PATNA: Worried over the Mandal card which RJD chief Lalu Prasad has played in order to consolidate OBC voters in favour of the grand alliance, BJP's national president Amit Shah reiterated his old statement that his party is always a supporter of reservation policy and it does not want any change in this policy.

Shah was addressing his party workers in Begusarai town on Wednesday afternoon. Shah held a meeting of his party's workers of 10 districts, which will go poll in the first phase, in Begusarai.

These districts include Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagariya, Bhagalpur, Banka and Begusarai.

Blaming the RJD chief Lalu and CM Nitish Kumar for misleading people over the reservation issue and diverting attention from the development agenda, Shah appealed BJP workers to undertake doo-to-door campaign to ensure the victory of BJP in Bihar assembly polls.

Shah also underlined the special political significance of Bihar election at national level. "This election will decide the direction of national politics," Shah told his party workers. He added those who are opposed to BJP's ideologies will also come to Bihar and campaign against the party in this election. He appealed workers to counter such forces in their areas concerned.

In his speech, Shah also gave special focus on the alleged resentment among the party workers over the selection of candidates for contesting the polls. He told them that there were several party workers who wanted to contest the poll. "If party is alive, there would be several opportunity for you in the future. Show your solidarity and commitment for the victory of NDA candidates," Shah mentioned in his speech.

Referring to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's latest US visit, he told party workers that Modi has enhanced the prestige of country at global level.
