GUWAHATI: BJP president Amit Shah said on Saturday that if the BJP is voted to power it will seal the India-Bangladesh border. Efforts will made, together with Bangladesh, to deport the illegal immigrants in Assam, Shah said at a press conference here. Shah said that a major hurdle for sealing the India-Bangladesh border is cleared following the inking of the India-Bangladesh Land Swap Deal.

"BJP is committed to seal the India-Bangladesh border. We are going to seal the border as soon as possible. The execution of the land swap deal between the two countries has already eased the process," he said. He said the Congress is not concerned about the influx issues and has used illegal immigrants as vote bank.

"The Congress' seriousness on this issue can be gauged from the fact that Assam CM Tarun Gogoi had once said that there is not a single Bangladeshi in Assam," Shah added.
