Amit Shah rakes up Udhayanidhi Stalin's remark in election-bound Rajasthan

Dubbing INDIA bloc as "Ghamandiya alliance", Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Opposition grouping over DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks against 'Sanatan Dharma'. Shah accused Opposition leaders of insulting 'Sanatan Dharma' for vote bank and appeasement politics.

Shah said DMK leaders, including the Tamil Nadu chief minister's son, are saying that 'Sanatan Dharma' should be abolished. He also accused Congress' Rahul Gandhi of "calling Hindu groups more dangerous than Lashkar-e-Taiba".

Addressing a public rally at Beneshwar Dham in Dungarpur district on the launch of BJP's Parivartan Yatra in election-bound Rajasthan, Shah said: "These people have talked about 'Sanatan Dharma' for vote-bank appeasement. They have insulted ('Sanatan Dharma')."


Beneshwar Dham is a pilgrimage centre for people from tribal communities. It is located at the confluence of the Som, Mahi and the Jakham rivers on the Banswara-Dungarpur border.

At the start of his speech, Shah praised former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje by saying that during her tenure she introduced development in the state.

Shah alleged that it was not the first time that appeasement politics was being played. "Manmohan Singh had said that minorities have the first right on the budget. We say that Dalits, tribals and backward (classes) have the first right... You (Rahul Gandhi) compare Hindu organisations with Lashkar-e-Taiba. Your minister used to say that Hindu terror is going on. INDIA bloc can go to any extent for vote bank and appeasement politics," he said.
