Manipur BJP MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh on Thursday said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah made very important and pertinent points regarding the present conflict in the state in Lok sabha on Wednesday.

The BJP legislator, who is also the son-in-law of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, in a statement said that the Home Minister has virtually reiterated the policies of the state government and the general views of the people of Manipur.

Singh said that the Home Minister has said that there would be no change in demography in the state of Manipur.


“The Home Minister has accepted the reality of the conflict that there has been infiltration from Myanmar, and a check on illegal migrants are necessitated, thus biometrics of all illegal migrants and refugees.

He said the influx of Kukis from Myanmar was caused primarily due to a crackdown by the Military Junta,” the BJP MLA said.

He quoted the Home Minister as saying that the boundary (India-Myanmar) fencing has become a priority for the country, Central Government would fence more than 600 kms of the border for which a survey has started.

The Home Minister has put forward the narcotics angle for the conflict which the entire state has been discussing about, Singh said adding that accepting the facts and reality of the conflict due to infiltration by refugees from Myanmar.

“Government of India is talking with the Myanmar Government regarding the influx.

The Manipur High Court order regarding the status of Scheduled Tribe without any recommendation from the state government has triggered the violence.”

The state government has been cooperating with the Central Government, there would be no change in the state led by present Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Imo Singh stated.
