NEW DELHI: The government’s reconstituted panel of a group of ministers headed by home minister Amit Shah, dealing with charges of sexual harassment at workplaces, in its first meeting on Wednesday examined suggestions to penalise employers for their failure to set up internal complaints committees.

“The GoM undertook consultations with stakeholders and was examining various suggestions,” according to an MHA statement. The panel is likely to meet next month for second round of discussions. The other members of the reconstituted panel are finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and women and child development minister Smriti Irani.
