Amit Shah hoists tricolour at BJP headquarters

NEW DELHI: BJP President Amit Shah unfurled the national flag at the party headquarters on Ashok Road here to celebrate the country's 66th Republic Day today.

Shah was accompanied by a number of party workers and leaders during the simple function to mark the country's Republic Day.

The BJP chief later participated in the Republic Day Parade on Rajpath. Seated next to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he was seen chatting with her. He was accompanied by his wife.

Veteran BJP leader L K Advani unfurled the tricolour at his residence later in the day to mark the day.

The government had announced yesterday to confer the 'Padma Vibhushan' award on Advani for his contribution in Public Affairs. The Padma awards are announced on the eve of Republic Day.
