Ambika Soni takes delegation to Japan

Soni will leave on Tuesday to promote 'Incredible India' brand through seminars, presentations to the Japanese tourism industry.

NEW DELHI: With a view to boosting tourism and cultural exchange between India and Japan, Minister for Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni will lead a delegation to Tokyo to take part in world trade fair being organised there.

Soni leaves tomorrow with the delegation which will promote 'Incredible India' brand through seminars, presentations to the Japanese tourism industry and the roadshows.

The visit comes in the wake of a joint statement signed during the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Tokyo in December last year designating the year 2007 as the 'India - Japan Tourism Exchange Year', .

Japan is one of the leading tourist generating markets for India, with approximately 1.2 lakh tourists visiting India during 2006, an increase of over 15.5 per cent as compared to the previous year.
