Amarinder grilled by Punjab vigilance in DA case

Former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh was today grilled by a team of State Vigilance Bureau at Circuit house here in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case against him.

PATIALA: Former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh was today grilled by a team of State Vigilance Bureau at Circuit house here in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case against him.

Singh along with few of his supporters was allowed to enter the circuit house whereas several party activists, including 27 sitting MLAs, were gathered outside the Baradari gardens here. He was accompanied by his wife and MP Preneet kaur. Singh reached five minutes before 10.00 am the scheduled time for questioning in the case and he was allowed to go home for lunch and called back for questioning by a team of vigilance bureau sleuths led by SSP Shiv Kumar.

The bureau had summoned him and his son Raninder Singh for quizzing in the case of alleged disproportionate assets registered against him at Patiala on June 20.

Singh's son did not appeared before the sleuths as he was abroad.

Despite the state party unit's verbal dictat to MLAs and party activists not to make it a show of strength, several Congressmen were present in the occasion.

However, the supporters and MLAs were stopped by police few metres ahead of Cicuit house -- palce of questioning as section 144 of one crpc was imposed around it.
