All's in a name, says Prem Chand Gupta

The erstwhile Ministry of Company Affairs has given way to Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

NEW DELHI: Branding seems have gained prominence in the Union Government too. Now, the Manmohan Singh-led UPA Government boasts of a Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
This is the new incarnation of the erstwhile Ministry of Company Affairs headed by RJD’s Prem Chand Gupta.
“The new name not merely reflects a change in the form but also in the vision and approach that drives the initiatives of the ministry” said Prem Chand Gupta.
The new look, swanky Ministry of Corporate Affairs will no longer limit its reach and functions to just administration of the companies – both listed and unlisted ones. Instead, the new Ministry will get a face lift with ‘branding and position’ it has been slotted in, said a senior ministry official.
Ministry of Corporate Affairs will extend its administrative control on corporate governance reforms and the emerging legal framework that would govern the corporates in India.
