All-round development of UP important for country's progress: CM Akhilesh Yadav

LUCKNOW: All-round development of Uttar Pradesh, the country's most populous state, is important for the overall progress of the nation, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said.

Addressing a gathering here after hoisting the tricolour on the occasion of 69th Independence Day at Vidhan Bhawan, Akhilesh said that the journey of development was incomplete unless basic amenities were provided to all sections of the society.

"The progress of the country would be complete only when socio-economic figures of Uttar Pradesh, which was biggest in terms of population, improve," he said.

He said that his government was running a number of welfare and job-oriented schemes to accelerate rural economy.

Referring to various schemes, Akhilesh claimed that developmental works were being done speedily and once completed the picture of urban and rural areas would change.

He said that after that Uttar Pradesh would come at par with other progressive states.

Underlining the role played by Uttar Pradesh in the country's freedom struggle, Akhilesh paid tributes to the martyrs and said that the struggle included sacrifices made by all sections of the society.

Appealing to the people of the state to extend their co-operation in achieving all-round development of Uttar Pradesh, he said that making it developed and prosperous would be the real tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs.

Highlighting measures taken to improve law and order and development of infrastructure facilities, Akhilesh said that success of industrial policy could be gauged from the fact that several companies were coming forward to invest in Uttar Pradesh.

The CM said that his government was also paying attention on improving power generation, its transmission and distribution along with solar power.

He said a number of sub-stations were installed and capacity of old ones increased.

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, Ram Manohar Lohia, Acharya Narenda Deo, Jai Prakash Narayan and Janeshwar Mishra, Akhilesh paid tributes to late former President A P J Abdul Kalam and those killed in earthquake in Nepal.
