With Nagaland moving towards opposition-less government following NCP and JDU mlas extending support to N Rio led government, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said all parties contesting polls in the northeast must understand that they will have to eventually support the BJP.
JDU has dissolved the local unit and stated that the MLA has supported it without the knowledge of party leadership.
Sarma also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the ''tallest leader'' of the country, and everyone favours him in the region.

When asked if Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's return to BJP-led NDA, he said, ‘'I have not researched much on him. But with Nitish Kumar, you can't guarantee anything.”
Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar has decided that his party will not play the role of opposition in Nagaland and it accepts the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in the state where BJP is NDPP’s ally.
The move comes after the Nagaland unit of the NCP and the victorious 7 MLAs of the party opined to support the government in the “larger interest of the state”.
Janata Dal (United) has dissolved its Nagaland unit after a newly-elected MLA extended unconditional support to BJP on Thursday. The Nagaland Assembly election concluded recently where JD(U) contested on 8 seats and managed to win one. The newly-elected MLA Jwenga Seb has given unconditional support to BJP.
In the last term Nagaland had witnessed a less opposition government. Sarma said that this is the first time a PM has visited swearing in Nagaland and Meghalaya The intention of the PM is only Northeast. He is not interested for 2024, but for development works
Tipra Motha
Sarma said that talks with Tipra Motha were not political but to solve the issue of tribals in Northeast and that's why we met Tipra after swearing in on Wednesday.
Tribal based party supremo Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barman said that the Union government would soon appoint an interlocutor to study and resolve the demands of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) within three months.
Barman met Union Home Minister Amit Shah. TMP, which for the first time contested 42 seats on its own, emerged as the second largest party by securing 13 seats.
The TMP, after capturing the politically important Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in April 2021, has been demanding elevation of the areas of the autonomous body by granting a 'Greater Tipraland State' or a separate state under Article 2 and 3 of the Constitution.
Deb Barman said that Shah has assured that like in Nagaland to appoint an interlocutor to study and resolve the demands of the TMP within three months.
“If we find satisfactory constitutional solutions to our demands then we would sign an accord with the central government. Unless and until our demands resolve we would not join the BJP led government,” TMP chief and former royal scion told the media after a more than two-hour long meeting with Shah.
On Rahul Gandhi's speech he said, Sarma said, “Nobody wants to listen to Rahul Gandhi in India. That's why he has gone to London to deliver speeches.”
