NEW DELHI: Even as BJP has clearly stepped up its efforts to topple the HD Kumaraswamy government in Karnataka, Congress circles believe the saffron rival could be more keen to bring about a regime change in Madhya Pradesh.

Congress sources downplayed the manoeuvres by BJP to dislodge the government in Karnataka and said saffron tacticians knew they could not pull it off. “They, however, are going to make a real push to topple us in Bhopal,” a senior Congress source said.
BJP narrowly lost its 15-year grip on MP in December when it finished with a tally of 109, seven short of the majority mark in the 230-strong Bhopal assembly and five behind arch-rival Congress.

BJP better protect its own house: Kamal Nath
Congress, which is led by CM Kamal Nath, considered a shrewd politician, has since enlisted the support of four independent MLAs, besides two BSP MLAs and SP’s solitary representative.

Pulling no punches, chief minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday warned BJP to "protect its own house" and not to bother about the Congress government.

Responding to media queries on reports of alleged horse-trading attempts by BJP, Nath laughed and said, "Jo bhaag jaae maidan se, woh kya rahega maidan mein." He was referring to the BJP walkout during the election of Speaker in Vidhan Sabha.

"BJP may have been luring MLAs but I have faith in all Congress legislators and MLAs of parties supporting us. Let me tell the BJP, do not worry about Congress, you better protect your own house first," he remarked.
