All chambers greet govt over N-deal
CII, FICCI and Assocham said this would be an inflexion.
The fact that this is a customised deal which has been made as an exception to India is a reflection of the stature of India in the world today. The deal has brought an end to Indias N-isolation and technology denial, said CII director-general Chandrajit Banerjee.
Ficci said that the government needs to amend the Atomic Energy Act to allow greater participation and allow majority ownership to the private players in the nuclear power generation. We need to meet a target of 60,000 MW of power generation and increased participation of private players will speed up this process, said Ficci secretary general Amit Mitra.
Assocham president Sajjan Jindal complemented the Centre on taking the Indo-US civil nuclear agreement to its logical conclusions. According to the chamber, the deal will attract a minimum of Rs 2 lakh crore investments in nuclear power generation sector in the next 15 years.
