Alirajpur is the new district of Madhya Pradesh
Alirajpur has been declared as the new district of Madhya Pradesh by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan taking, the total number of districts in the state to 49.
The new district (Alirajpur) which was carved out by bifurcating tribal Jhabua district was dedicated as the 49th district of the state by Chouhan in the presence of large number of people, mostly tribals in an impressive function yesterday at Alirajpur town, an offical release said.
Chouhan introduced the first collector of the new district Chandashekhar Borkar to the people from the stage. He also announced to give status of Tehsil to Kathiwada and Sondwa blocks on the occasion.
The Chief Minister announced to give Rs one crore for administrative arrangments to be made at Alirajpur district headquarter.
Those present on the occasion included Minister of State for Tribal Welfare Ranjana Baghel, Alirajpur MLA Nagar Singh Chouhan, Jobat MLA Madhosingh Dabar, Jhabua MLA Pawe Singh Pargi and Thandla MLA Kalsingh Bhamar.
The creation of new district has fulfilled the long pending demand of people, he said, adding that cases filed againt those heading the campaign for the creation of separate Alirajpur district will be withdrawn soon.
