Alarming how intellectuals and film personalities are joining TMC
KOLKATA: CPI(M) Politburo member Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today alleged a section of intellectuals and Bengali film personalities were 'surrendering to black money of chitfunds' in Trinamool Congress-ruled West Bengal.

"A section of Tollygunge (film industry) is surrendering to the black money of chit funds. An evil hand is trying to take over intellectuals. It is a dangerous trend for the state," Bhattacharjee told a gathering of intellectuals here.

Pro-Left intellectual Subodh Sarkar and film-maker Arindam Sil had switched over to Trinamool Congress.

Bhattacharjee also lashed out at Trinamool Congress government over the issue of loans taken by the state.

"The way the present state government is taking huge loans is strange and alarming. The loans they are taking are spent on functions and festivals and not on development," he alleged.
