Alagiri deposes before High Court in election petition case

Alagiri today deposed before the Madras High Court during a hearing on a petition challenging his election to the Lok Sabha in 2009 over alleged malpractices.

CHENNAI: Former Union Minister M K Alagiri today deposed before the Madras High Court during a hearing on a petition challenging his election to the Lok Sabha in 2009 over alleged malpractices.

Appearing before Justice V Dhanapalan, the DMK leader rejected the charges levelled by the petitioner and denied that he had paid money to voters.

The petitioner, CPI(M)'s Lazar, had alleged that Alagiri, elected from Madurai, had indulged in several malpractices.

Justice Dhanapalan adjourned the hearing to July 8.
