AKOLA: Opposition BJP on Saturday said it would raise the recently unearthed sex racket in the city that allegedly involves policemen and government officials in the upcoming Budget session of Maharashtra legislature.

The Democratic Front Govenment will be taken to task over the racket in the Budget session, senior BJP leader Pandurang Phundkar said here.

The Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council alleged that the Congress-led ruling coalition was shielding those involved in the racket.

The case came to light early this month when an 18-year- old college girl told the police she was sexually exploitated by policemen and some government officials over the last six months. She had initially named District Superintendent of Police Deepak Pande but later dropped the charge against him.

Phundkar, however, said the Opposition will press for removal of the senior IPS officer.
