Akhilesh Yadav urges UP MPs to expedite development projects

LUCKNOW: In his letter, the CM has asked them to draw the Union government's attention towards a number of proposals, schemes, projects that have been sent to the Center for approval but their clearance is pending. Attaching a list of 26 such projects sent to the Center till October 30, 2015, the CM has asked the Central ministers and MPs to pursue their clearance so that the projects could be initiated on ground.

Giving details of pending proposals, the chief minister has talked about six proposals pending with the ministry for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, 5 proposals each related to the Finance ministry including one pertaining to Banks apart from 4 major projects pending before the ministry for Railways. The letter also includes a brief of two schemes related to the ministry of coal and one each pending with the ministry for energy, food & civil supplies and minorities affairs.

Along with the letter, the chief minister has also sent a booklet to the Central ministers and MP to provide a ready reference of the projects awaiting clearance in Delhi. The booklet talks of efforts to ensure adequate financial help in the form of increased share from the center for projects and schemes in the state under National Ganga River Basin Authority, Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Program and relief package for farmers facing losses due to flood, hail or untimely rains.

The attachment also mentions early completion of Etawah-Mainpuri railway line, halts for important trains at Kannauj railway station, setting up of a deer park near Agra and an international airport in Firozabad. Availability of coal for the Lalitpur thermal power plant and early intervention of ministry for food and civil supplies to resolves issues related to the financial crises being faced by sugar industry are other points which find an elaborate mention in the annexure to the letter.

Among the proposals pending before the ministry of road transport and highways for part from transfer of Lucknow-Kanpur section of the National Highway 25 to the state government from the national highway authority of India and widening of national highway on Gorakhour - Deoria -- Bihar route, the letter talks of the approval for Delhi-Meerut corridor under the regional transit system project.
