Akhilesh Yadav to meet Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Saturday

Even though there is no set agenda for the meeting, sources said that two leaders would discuss strategies to get all Opposition parties together before the election in 2019.

KOLKATA: Former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav will meet West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee during his visit to Kolkata on Saturday. Yadav will be in the city to attend the state conference of Samajwadi party on December 2. Yadav will meet the chief minister at her residence at around 5 pm, said Kiranmoy Nanda, national vice president of SP.

Even though there is no set agenda for the meeting, sources said that two leaders would discuss strategies to get all Opposition parties together before the election in 2019. Nanda however called it as a ‘courtesy call’.

Significantly, the Samajwadi party faced almost a rout in the civic elections in Uttar Pradesh. In this situation his meeting with Mamata Banerjee is being seen as a crucial one. Yadav will address his party leaders and workers in Kolkata during the state conference.
