NEW DELHI: In its bid to attract investment in UP, the SP government has signed MoUs worth Rs 54,606 crore with leading corporates and business houses on Thursday in New Delhi.

Stung by the defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav seems to have borrowed the development mantra from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election campaign.

Making a bold attempt at showcasing UP as an ideal investment destination, Yadav held one-on-one and group meetings with leading industrialists and marquee investors for nearly six hours at the Taj Palace hotel here.

“I am grateful that some big corporate groups and MNCs have come here today and signed MoUs. This is the biggest investment proposal for UP. They (investors) can approach me directly, anytime, and I will be available,” Yadav told investors and diplomats from Canada, Netherlands, Turkey, Poland, Italy, and Taipei.

The UP government signed 20 MoUs with companies like Reliance Jio, Essel, ITC, KRIBHCO, GAIL, Duncan Goenka, Uflex, Sonalika, Shree Cements, Fortis, Azure Power, Amity, River Engineering, JVL Agro, Ultrafairwood, Reekriti Food Park, Samprash Foods & Beverages Marketing and UP Food & Logistics Park.
