Akhilesh Yadav dissolves Samajwadi Party's all units in Uttar Pradesh
"Party president Akhilesh Yadav has dissolved the state executive. All district executives and the executives of youth and other wings have also been dissolved," a senior party leader told requesting anonymity.

The SP won only five Lok Sabha seats despite being in an alliance with the BSP and RLD. After its dismal performance, the party witnessed a series of setbacks. While the BSP broke the alliance with the SP, several senior leaders of the SP including three of its Rajya Sabha members left the party.
SP members told ET that Friday’s announcement was a step towards putting in place a new leadership team to take forward the organisation right before the assembly bypolls for 12 seats.
“It was long due as our president had not been able to rejig his team post his election as party president. There were back-to-back elections and there was little time to do a large-scale restructuring,” said a senior SP leader, who did not wish to be identified.
Yadav had replaced his father Mulayam Singh Yadav before the 2017 assembly election.
