LUDHIANA: SAD candidate from Ludhiana Manpreet Singh Ayali today targeted Union Minister Manish Tewari, saying his attempt to find "escape routes" proved that Congress had already lost half the battle.

Taking a dig at sitting MP Tewari, he said his attempt to find "escape routes" on one pretext or the other had proved that the Congress had already lost half the battle here even before filing of nomination papers.

"Even if the unwilling horse was pushed into the race he is sure to lose the race in a very ignominious manner," he said while referring to Tewari in a meeting at his office in Sarabha Nagar here.

"Tewari has done nothing to nurture his constituency and had always been playing to the galleries through the media lime light," he alleged.

48-year-old Tewari was hospitalised on Saturday due to a heart ailment. He has not been keeping well for the past several days and had earlier gone to AIIMS for treatment.
