Congress veteran AK Antony's son Anil K Antony resigned from the party's digital and social media panels on Wednesday after differences on his stand on the BBC documentary on Gujarat riots and chief minister Narendra Modi's role. He lashed out at Congress in his resignation letter and in comments to the media thereafter. The party leadership had promoted him as his father ranks among the most trusted advisors of the Gandhis.

The resignation came just when Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee rejected his views and was about to act against him after younger leaders, most of whom resented his ambitions, pilloried his stand and sought his expulsion. He had said that those in India placing views of the BBC over Indian institutions would set a dangerous precedence and undermine national sovereignty.
