HAZARIBAGH: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Ajsu President Sudesh Mahto today vowed to carry on the party's ongoing agitations till Jharkhand is accorded special status by the Centre.

He announced that the demand would be one of the main issues in the Lok Sabha elections if the Centre ignored the demand.

" Ajsu party has taken a pledge to get the demand for according the special state to Jharkhand. Our main issue in the Lok Sabha elections is demand for according special status to the state," Mahto told reporters here.

"We have already completed day-long hunger strikes twice and the first phase of 'Adhikaar Yatra' is going on. We will take out a human chain from Hazaribagh's Barhi to East Singhbhum district's Bahragora on October 2 on NH-33," he said.

"Mineral-rich Jharkhand remains underdeveloped even after the state's creation 13 years ago," Mahto, whose Ajsu party shared power for almost nine years, added.
