Airport expansion:Land owners want higher quantum of compensation
A majority of land owners have sought higher compensation for their land to be acquired for the Madurai airport's expansion.
Participating at a public hearing called by the District Collector Anshul Mishra here today, they said price should be commensurate with the market value.
The collector said the farm land owners would get Rs.2000 per cent and house site owners would get Es.74120 for a cent.
He also said alternate site would not be given and only money would be given for their land.Owners also expressed their unhappiness at this.
The government was to acquire 613 acres for expansion of the runway to enable bigger planes land in Madurai.
