Aircel-Maxis FIPB clearance: CBI summons Karti Chidambaram
NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday summoned Karti Chidambaram, son of former finance minister P Chidambaram, for questioning in the Aircel-Maxis corruption case on Thursday.

Karti stands accused of facilitating bribes in the Aircel-Maxis transaction, which is part of the bigger 2G spectrum case. In July, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had summoned Karti in connection with money laundering probe in Aircel Maxis case.

The Enforcement Directorate, which is probing a company associated with Karti and FDI inflow into Vasan Healthcare, had found documents pertaining the INX Media FDI inflow during searches.

The documents allegedly showed that Advantage Strategic Consulting — a company that CBI has claimed that Karti indirectly controls — was paid Rs 10 lakh as consultancy fees to help it get FIPB approval in 2008 when P Chidambaram was the finance minister in the UPA government.
