Air connectivity must to tap Khajuraho's potential: Chhagan Bhujbal

KHAJURAHO, MP: Proper air connectivity is a must to promote tourism at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh which is equally glorious as the Ajanta Ellora cave art in Maharashtra, former Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said here.

Referring to poor connectivity of Khajuraho, he said from coming to Mumbai, it takes around 5-6 hours, but if a direct flight is available then one can reach the spot in just two hours which is very essential for promoting tourism.

After visiting the 10th century world heritage monument, Bhujbal told reporters yesterday, "Like Ajanta-Ellora caves which are unique in itself, the temples of Khajuraho of Chandel era are also unparalleled in the world."

"But for promoting tourism in Khajuraho, proper air connectivity is essential," he emphasised.

The architecture of both Ajanta Ellora and that of Khajuraho is unique and both are unequalled in the world, Bhujbal said.

At Ajanta Ellora, the Kailash temple was carved in one piece while here in Khajuraho, statues are small, depicting woman's beauty. The concept of both the places is different, he said.

People can visit Khajuraho temples in very less time and it has to be clubbed with a visit to Panna Tiger Reserve and National Park for tourism purpose, he suggested.

Bhujbal said the place has a lot of potential for promoting tourism and it must be tapped.
