AIKSC has condemned arrest of its leader one day before the Kisan Mukti Yatra begins

PUNE: Just a day before the Kisan Mukti Yatra was scheduled to kick off from Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh police has arrested farmer leader Sunilam from Pipaliya Mandi. "The arrest is a reflection of BJP government's desperation to muzzle the voice of farmers at any cost. It is the insensitivity of BJP towards farmers that has led the MP police to act in such an autocratic manner," a release issued by All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee stated.

Yatra was scheduled to start from Pipliya Mandi , place where farmers were killed during agitation. The district magistrate had denied permission to the Yatra on Tuesday.

Sunilam, the main organiser of the MP leg of Kisan Mukti Yatra, was arrsted hours before the yatra was scheduled to begin tomorrow from Madhya Pradesh, informed AIKSC.

The convenor of All India Kisan Coordination Committee, V M Singh has condemned the arrest one day prior to the Yatra calling it a reflection of police state in MP.

Yogendra Yadav said that the government's desperation is a proof that they have been caught on the wrong foot because of the call of #OneNationOneMovement given by country's farmers.

He tweeted to inform about the arrest, "Just heard that our colleague and main organiser of tomorrow's programme Dr Sunilam, ex MLA, has been arrested in Pipaliya Mandi."
