GUWAHATI: As dissident camp in congress is unrelenting, All India congress committee ( AICC) is working on a comprise formula to douse the rebel activity in the Assam.

AICC has formed a three member panel which include Motilal Vohra, Ghulam Nabi Azad and C.P Joshi to resolve the congress crisis in Assam which was triggered after dissident MLAs threatened to move Governor if chief minister, Tarun Gogoi is not replaced.

A senior leader in AICC who do not want to be quoted told ET, "Under the formula officer bearer of Pradesh congress will be asked to resign and new officer bearers will be chosen, the leader of the dissident camp Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to get the post of party president and Gogoi will continue as chief minister."

Owing moral responsibility for the disastrous performance of congress in Assam Gogoi had tendered resignation to Party president, Sonia Gandhi which she refused to accept. Congress managed to win three seats, four less than 2009 tally.

The AICC leader added, "There will reshuffle in the state cabinet whereby new faces will be inducted in the cabinet. The cabinet will have adequate representation from the rebel and Gogoi camp. These changes are expected to take place after June 1, congress in Assam will be celebrating three year's of state government and 13 the anniversary of congress rule."

A group of 25 dissident MLAs on Wednesday met Azad in New Delhi. Presently the panel is hearing from different leaders.

The AICC leader said, "Corrective steps have to be initiated to check BJPs and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) consolidations of votes in Assam or congress will face difficult times in 2016 assembly polls."

BJP has benefited from the internal bickering of congress in Assam and saffron party has started the preparations for the assembly polls. BJP has initiated mission 84 seats in 126 member state assembly.

In recent Lok Sabha polls BJP was on the lead in at least 69 assembly segments while All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) took the lead in about 24 assembly segments.
