AICC set to discuss ‘RSS takeover’ issue

NEW DELHI: The upcoming AICC plenary session plans to take up the issue of ‘RSS takeover’ of key state institutions under the rule of the Narendra Modi government as its main counter-strategy to rally people and parties against the ruling dispensation and BJP, sources said.

The draft political resolution of the plenary session alleges that the central government and BJP, as “political fronts” of RSS, have been facilitating its penetration in important institutions to the extent of even bringing the judiciary under the shadow of the Sangh Parivar plot with the ultimate aim of rewriting the Constitution. The AICC resolution will call for pitched resistance against the political, ideological and organisational designs of RSS, Congress insiders said.

To drive home the point, the AICC draft resolution is listing a series of instances of the Sangh “tightening its grip” on various constitutional bodies. The party will also cite many incidents of violence and tension in many parts of the country related to the cow-protection squad, and attacks on political rivals, Dalits, people belonging to the minority communities, intellectuals, activists and academicians, as examples of alleged RSS-anchored design for creating social unrest and divisions facilitated by the Modi government.


The Congress leadership has also shortlisted three issues — growing unemployment among the youth, distress of farmers and spiralling prices of oil products — to give a call for launching a nationwide agitation against the NDA government. The AICC plenary session will also try to erect and anti-corruption plank by listing a series of recent ‘scams’ including Nirav Modi-PNB fraud case and the Rafale fighter jet deal.

The draft resolutions will be placed for clearance at the AICC steering committee on the eve of the session, sources said.

TO ATTACK FOREIGN POLICY
The AICC draft resolution on international affairs makes an all-round critique of the NDA government’s foreign policy. It accuses the Centre of weakening India’s global standing vis a vis global powers such as the USA, China and Russia, sources said.

It will also cite, what it calls “the failure of the Centre” to protect the interests of Indian techies and students on issues such as H-1B visa. The resolution also questions the “rationale of the Centre’s Pakistan policy” and alleges that under the NDA regime, India has lost its strategic positioning with all neighbours, leaving New Delhi neither loved nor feared in the region.
