PUDUCHERRY: AIADMK workers were today taken into custody when they staged a sit-in outside a hotel here where DMDK chief Vijayakanth was staying, protesting his alleged remarks against their party supremo and Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa.

The workers raised slogans against Vijayakanth and also protested against him for allegedly behaving in an 'uncivilised' manner with the media recently.

Deputy leader of the party's legislature wing A Anbalagan and MLA, Ohm Sakthi Segar, were among those taken into custody, police said.

Some AIADMK workers burnt an effigy of Vijayakanth during the protest.

Meanwhile, a group of press persons and lens men staged a protest outside the hotel condemning his behaviour towards the media.

On Sunday, Vijayakanth allegedly behaved in an "uncivilised" manner with a group of scribes at Chennai , when he was asked if the ruling AIADMK would capture power in the next assembly polls.
