AIADMK to protest on June 12 against fuel hike
Condemning the petrol-diesel price hike affected by the Centre, AIADMK on Wednesday said it would hold demonstrations against the decision in its entire district headquarters across the state and several other parts of the country on June 12.
In a statement here, AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa said besides Tamil Nadu, demonstrations would also be held in Pondicherry, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi on the same day.
Condemning the hike affected for the sixth time since June 2004, Jayalalithaa said MDMK and Dalit Panthers of India workers would also join the demonstrations.
She said a hike in the prices of petrol and diesel would have a cascading effect on the prices of other commodities and would affect poor people.
She also criticised UPA constituents like DMK, PMK, CPI and CPI-M for 'remaining silent' on the issue.
