AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa said the fishermen were in prison for over 50 days and their boats were yet to be returned.

CHENNAI : AIADMK will stage a protest in Karaikal on September 26 demanding release of 16 fishermen languishing in a Sri Lankan jail.

Party supremo Jayalalithaa said the fishermen were in prison for over 50 days. While 13 of their colleagues were released, their boats were yet to be returned, she said.

AIADMK will protest outside the Karaikal Collectorate, demanding that the Centre and Puducherry governments initiate all steps for release of the fishermen and their boats, she said in a statement.
