AIADMK demands NIA probe in pipe bomb case

PUDUCHERRY: Opposition AIADMK today demanded that the National Investigation Agency take up investigation into the incident of detection of powerful pipe bomb under the car of the Union Minister V Narayanasamy here.

AIADMK's Puducherry unit Secretary A.Anbalagan MLA said the investigation should be expedited and be done by a Central agency.The NIA should be assigned the task of investigation,he added.

He urged political parties not to derive political mileage from yesterday's incident.

The Puducherry State CPI Secretary R Viswanathan said that it was a matter of serious concern that a Central Minister should face threat to his life.There should be joint probe by the local police and the Central agencies, he said.

Viswanathan said the bandh called by Congress on February 1 to condemn the incident is `not necessary`.
