New Delhi: AIADMK supremo E Palaniswami on Tuesday met Union home minister Amit Shah at the latter's residence here amid calls that the expelled leaders should be welcomed back into the party. Several other AIADMK leaders, including its MPs, and BJP chief JP Nadda are expected to attend the meeting.

This comes even though several leaders in the Dravidian party have been asserting that they wouldn't merge various factions of the party. On Sunday, after attending an event with Palaniswami, BJP's TN chief N Nagenthran had said that if all (factions of AIADMK) come together, it will augur well for Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, KA Sengottaiyan, who was recently ousted from AIADMK, had confirmed to have met Shah and Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman. While BJP's state unit is in favour of all factions of AIADMK - O Panneerselvam and TTV Dinakaran - merging with the parent Dravidian party, the AIADMK leadership is not warming up to the idea.
