Ahmednagar Congress committee chief commits suicide

SHIRDI: Ahmednagar district Congress committee chief allegedly committed suicide at his residence near here by shooting himself today, police said.

Sanjay Murlidhar Sasane, elder brother of former chairman of Shri Saibaba Sansthan trust, Jayant Sasane, ended his life by firing a round from his rifle at the lawn of his house in Srirampur, nearly 35 kms from here, this morning, Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Jadhav said.

Reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained and the body has been sent for postmortem to Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences at Loni, the officer added.

A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation into the matter is on.
