Ahmedabad blast: Bashir, nine other produced in court

Mufti Abu Bashir, the alleged mastermind in the Ahmedabad serial blast cases, alongwith nine other activists of the banned SIMI, were on Sunday produced before a court here.

AHMEDABAD: Mufti Abu Bashir, the alleged mastermind in the Ahmedabad serial blast cases, alongwith nine other activists of the banned SIMI, were on Sunday produced before a court here.

Bashir, who was brought from Uttar Pradesh on a three-day transit remand after being arrested there by Gujarat and UP police teams yesterday, and the nine other co-accused were produced before a metropolitan magistrate here under tight security.

Official sources said the prosecution will seek maximum police remand to unravel the conspiracy behind the July 26 blasts in Ahmedabad which claimed 55 lives and the planting of bombs in Surat.

Gujarat police had yesterday claimed that they have cracked the blasts case with the arrest of Bashir and the nine others belonging to the Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
