NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel today rejected allegations of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that he was instrumental in transfer of officials in the state ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

"I think there is some misunderstanding. I have nothing to do with the transfer of officials in West Bengal or any other state. I am not so powerful. Had I been so, I would not have to sit on a fast in my own region to seek the transfer of an officer by the Election Commission," Patel told PTI.

With transfer of 23 police and administrative officials by the EC ahead of tomorrow's Lok Sabha elections, Banerjee today alleged that such decisions were being taken at the home of Congress leader Ahmed Patel in collusion with the CPI(M).

Patel rejected the allegation saying no such meeting took place in his house. "It is a misunderstanding. I have nothing to do with all this".
