Ahead of PM's visit, 2 cops shot dead in Kashmir

Terrorists using silencer-fitted pistols carried out near simultaneous attacks at Jehangir Chowk and Sarai Bala injuring head constable Mohammed Maqbool and constable Nazir Ahmed.

SRINAGAR: Two policemen were killed in the crowded Hari Singh high street, three days ahead of the prime minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorists using silencer-fitted pistols carried out near simultaneous attacks at Jehangir Chowk and Sarai Bala injuring head constable Mohammed Maqbool and constable Nazir Ahmed.

While Mabool died on his way to hospital, Ahmed succumbed to his injuries when he was being operated in the hospital. The PM is to visit the Valley on June 25 and return the next day. He will inaugurate the train service between Banihal and Qazigund.
