AGP says its priority is implementation of Assam accord
Regional party, Asom Gana Parishad which registered impressive win in the 2016 assembly polls stated that implementation of Assam accord will be its priority.

AGP has been facing repeated electoral drubbing since 2001 however in this assembly polls the regional party partnered with BJP and won 14 seats. Prior to assembly polls the party workers reach out to the voters with door to door campaign.
AGP president, Atul Bora said, “We are party formed after six year long anti foreigners movement (1979-85) and implementation of the Assam accord will be our priority. It hardly to matters to us if get the Assam accord implementation ministry or not.”
In the new ministry AGP is expecting to get four cabinet berths. Bora said, “We had initial discussion with Chief Minister designate Sarbananda Sonowal. However nothing was discussed on ministry formation.”
He added, “AGP is having steering committee on Sunday where we will discuss about the council of minister formation. It will be good if we can have proportionate representation in the new the council of minister.”
Another ally Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) has also sought four cabinet berths. Bora said, “We will strengthen the party in the grassroots and reach out to people in the new areas.”
