Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) would hold agitations across the country for the protection of Ram Setu, its leader Praveen Togadia said on Friday.

NEW DELHI: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) would hold agitations across the country for the protection of Ram Setu, its leader Praveen Togadia said on Friday.
"Rameshwaram Ramsetu Rakshak Dharmayodha recruitment" drive would be held from October 12-25 to fight for protection of Ram Setu...", he told a press conference.
He clarified that it was not a political movement but "any political fall out cannot be rejected."
"VHP also held the Central government as the sole responsible agency for the project as it was the approver and the financer of the Sethusamudram(waterway) project," he said.
Togadia said after the recruitment drive on October 26, there would be district-wise awareness campaigns. "Meanwhile, we could announce a mass agitation any day if the government did not heed to our demands to scrap the project."
VHP has been demanding an apology from the Central government for its Ram affidavit in Supreme Court and also to halt the Sethusamudram project which allegedly was intended to destroy the mythical Ram Setu.
