After win, Modi's first official visit to Delhi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met with the central BJP leadership in New Delhi on his first visit to the Capital after taking over the reins in the state for the third time.

NEW DELHI: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met with the central BJP leadership in New Delhi on his first visit to the Capital after taking over the reins in the state for the third time.

Modi, who guided his party to a convincing win in the recently concluded Assembly elections in Gujarat, was given a rousing reception by the Delhi unit of the BJP on arrival at the airport.

Modi's victory in Gujarat had fuelled speculation that he had become bigger than the BJP and would seek a greater role in party affairs at the Centre. Modi, for his part, had dismissed such suggestions.

The Gujarat Chief Minister met with BJP chief Rajnath Singh, senior party leader L K Advani and sought the blessings of veteran A B Vajpayee.

Modi was sworn in as chief minister on December 25 but is yet to announce his new team of ministers.
