After UN, Patidars to Protest in California, too

GANDHINAGAR: In spite of all efforts by the authorities, a section of the Patidar community is not ready to relent on their protests against the prime minister during his visit to the US. While some members of the community protested against Modi outside the headquarters of the United Nations during his visit, they are now planning similar demonstration in California as well.

Speaking to ET from the US, Tejas Bakhia, one of the organisers of the protest, said that the community is not convinced about the will of the government in addressing their concerns.

“All the claims of a relief package are a lollipop given to us to avoid a showdown here in the US,” he said, referring to the recent `1,000-crore package declared by the Gujarat CM. “Not only men but even women have joined the protests,” Bakhia claimed.

Back home in Gujarat, Hardik Patel, the convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti, has called upon his supporters to distribute lollipops as a mark of protest against the package announced.
