After remaining elusive all evening, P Chidambaram finally asked to appear before CBI within 2 hours
The INX media case pertains to the alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance to the media group for receiving overseas funds to the tune of Rs 307 crore.

Earlier in the day, Delhi High Court had rejected former finance minister P Chidambaram’s anticipatory bail in the INX Media case,which opened up the possibility of an immediate arrest. This necessitated Chidambaram to urgently move Supreme Court against the High Court order. However, the Supreme Court turned down the request of an immediate hearing and laid down the matter for tomorrow.

— ANI (@ANI) 1566324870000Former finance minister has been questioned several times in the case, which involves alleged kickbacks received by his son Karti Chidambaram in exchange for allowing the television company to receive foreign funds to the tune of Rs 307 crore in 2007.

Karti Chidambaram was arrested by CBI in February last year in connection with the INX media case. He was released on bail in March. The Enforcement Directorate has questioned Karti on several occasions in the INX Media case case. P Chidambaram was also questioned by the ED in January this year and on December 19 last year.
