NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi's 'khat sabha' with UP farmers took a dramatic turn when all his local supporters began decamping with the 'khats' from the venue.

There was unprecedented ruckus and commotion at the ground in Deoria, where the rally was held, after people started fighting over the cots to take them home.

As soon as Rahul's speech where he promised loan waivers to farmers and a 50 percent cut in their power tariff was over, farmers were seen fighting among themselves for the seats. It began when a few of the supporters started picking up the leftovers, like water bottles. After a few successfully managed to pick up the cots, a swarm of people followed suit.

There were about 2,000 'khats' or wooden cots at the Rudrapur ground of Deoria for seating purposes.

Rahul's 'Khat Sabha' is a part of his party's campaign for the coming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, aimed at reversing the Congress's 27-year exile from power in Uttar Pradesh.
