After PMK, Now DMK promises dry days for Tamil Nadu
Days after PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss made the promise of prohibition if voted to power, the DMK president M Karunanidhi towed the line today stating that he will enforce prohibition if the DMK comes to power.

In a statement issued late this evening, Karunanidhi has said that due to the absence of prohibition in Tamil Nadu poor people farmers, labourers and even students have taken to alcohol leading to hundreds of deaths in the state.
“Media reports suggest that it is not just men but women and young children are getting addicted to this dangerous habit,’’ Karunanidhi stated adding that “The question does arise as to why prohibition should not be imposed again in Tamil Nadu.’’
“Therefore if DMK comes to power, serious steps would be taken to enforce prohibition in the state to ensure social change and growth,’’ Karunanidhi stated.
Only a few days ago, Former Union Health Minister and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss had announced in a news conference in the city that if he were to become the CM of Tamil Nadu his first official signature will be on the document meant for enforcement of prohibition across the state with immediate effect.
