NEW DELHI: Notwithstanding the rejection of their resignations from Lok Sabha by the Speaker, Congress and YSR Congress MPs from Seemandhra region are mulling whether to submit fresh resignations in protest against the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

"Congress MPs are mulling a meeting in Delhi by this month end to decide on resigning for a second time," Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, the Guntur Congress MP, told PTI from Hyderabad.

"Presently, the Lok Sabha members are at different places. They would come to the national capital for the meeting," he added.

However, Rao said he was not convinced whether Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar would accept their resignations all over again as that might eventually cause the government to fall.

"If the resignations of 10 Congress MPs are accepted, it would provoke more such resignations, leading to a collapse of the government at the Centre.

"Hence, I am not sure whether our demand would be accepted this time around," Rao stated. We will highlight the issue during the winter session of Parliament, he asserted.

Speaker Kumar had on Friday rejected the resignations by 13 MPs from Andhra Pradesh, among them 10 Congress and two YSR Congress leaders, holding that those were "neither voluntary nor genuine".

YSR Congress Chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy was among those who had tendered their resignations.

SPY Reddy of YSR Congress said his party's MPs would submit their resignations to the Speaker.

"Our party chief would decide about the day (for resigning afresh)," he said.
