Already entangled in a difficult situation in Maharashtra over Maratha agitation for reservation, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), could find itself in a very challenging position in north-India ahead of 2024 polls, if the dominant Jat community again hit the streets raising the demand for inclusion in the Union government's Other Backward Classes (OBC) list.
All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) on Saturday held a meeting in the national capital and reiterated its demand of including Jats in the central list of OBCs and giving them OBC status in several states especially Haryana.
"Centre has not fulfilled its promise of giving OBC status to Jats at the central level and in Haryana. Now we must again launch a stir to get out demands fulfilled," AIJASS national convener Yashpal Malik said.
The Samiti has planned to host number of rallies in various states in protest for their demands and first such rally will be organised on November 26 in Rohtak in Haryana, he said.
