After Irom Sharmila ends fast, Robita Leima starts fast unto death

GUWAHATI: Despite pressure from civil society groups, Konthoujam Robita Leima on Saturday started her fast unto death demanding repeal of Armed forces special power act and implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).

She took this decision after Irom sharmila ended her 16 years long fast and decided to join politics.

Robita said, "I have decided to follow Sharmila’s footsteps. I sought blessings of Sharmila. She is my inspiration."

Attempts to presuade Robita, who is mother of two not to take such extreme step failed.

Robita alleged one of the civil society groups tried to forcefully confine her in their office so that she cannot start her fasting.
