State BJP chief Chandrakant Patil while addressing BJP cadres on the occasion of the party’s 41st Foundation day claimed that several ministers or their relatives were facing criminal charges. “There are several minister in the state cabinet who are facing serious criminal charges. One of them is facing imprisonment for beating up a cop, while another’s son-in-law is in jail in connection with a drug case… We are not interested in taking anyone’s resignation, it will happen naturally,” said Patil.
Patil said, “Like in cricket, first few wickets take time to fall, but once they fall, the tailenders also get out soon. The next few resignations will come far sooner.”
Interestingly, Patil after the resignation of Shiv Sena minister Sanjay Rathod in February after the latter’s name cropped in the death of a 22-year-old Tik Tok ‘star’, had claimed about another MVA minister resigning in the next few days.
While Patil did not mention which minister would resign next, the BJP leaders have been targetting Shiv Sena minister Anil Parab, who is considered to be close to the Thackeray family. Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis had earlier said that it was not clear who was running the Home department — Anil Deshmukh or Anil Parab. Other BJP leaders like Kirit Somaiya have also attacked Parab claiming that he “was dealing with API Sachin Vaze”. Vaze has been accused of planting explosives near Mukesh Ambani’s home and in the death case of Mansukh Hiren in whose car the explosives were planted.
